It’s finally happening! The website is live and while we’re busy developing HeyFood behind the scenes we now have a point of contact to post updates (and general ramblings).
We’re very excited and a little nervous, we wouldn’t be human if we weren’t a little nervous, right?
Find out more about the HeyFood app
The past months have been a whirlwind of emotion and coffee. We’ve been busy turning our idea into an actual thing. That thing is HeyFood and we’re very proud of what it is, and will become.
One of the hardest parts was actually deciding on our name. After filling a notebook with pages of name ideas we decided to go to the help of our close friends and set up a voting system.
The past months have been a whirlwind of emotion and coffee.
We had some great feedback, although one person said that our main contender at the time, ChefPal, sounded like a mid-90s blender attachment – which made us laugh! ?
Reaching out to friends made us realise that we needed to think outside of the box and eventually we came up with HeyFood, which we love! It sums everything up – it’s an app about food that you talk to and it talks back: “HeyFood“.
Who’s behind HeyFood?
I’m Lucy and I’m mainly dealing with the marketing side of the app. I LOVE people; I love talking to people and I love interacting with people, this probably goes back to my old profession as a hairdresser. I gave that up two years ago now, moving into food writing and working full time on my blog Globe Scoffers.
One of the key reasons for building this app is to help other food bloggers get their recipes recognised by more and more people.
Dean heads up the design and development side of the app, he’s also food mad and loves his unofficial job of chief taster for my culinary creations! He has run a successful app development company for the last 4 years, building apps that have to date had over 25 million downloads.
HeyFood is a passion project of ours – it’s an app that we ourselves would use daily and we feel that people are crying out for. We have been contacting other food bloggers getting them signed up as publisher and to follow our journey of HeyFood. One of the key reasons for building this app is to help other food bloggers get their recipes recognised by more and more people.
